Sharon
Yelland Sharon Yelland is the clinic’s founder and has been practising acupuncture for over 18 years since she studied Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Nanjing, China in 1992. As well as a trained acupuncturist, Sharon is also qualified as a nurse and midwife, working as a community midwife in Plymouth for 20 years. She was instrumental in setting up one of the country’s first NHS Trust Acupuncture Midwifery clinics at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital. The work attracted the interest of Prince Charles and a subsequent award from the Foundation of Integrated Medicine.
Her training in China saw how a whole range of conditions, from stomach problems, shingles, bell’s palsy, arthritis, anxiety, depression, stroke and many other ailments could be helped enormously by the eastern treatments. Back home Sharon combined her midwifery knowledge to treat patients with the difficulties of pregnancy as well as pain relief for birth, gynaecological disorders and menopausal symptoms. One of her main areas of specialism being in helping women conceive and help through assisted pregnancies.
